Finding a Guitar Teacher

When considering which Guitar teacher is for you, think about which style of music you would like to pursue. Most teachers will have one or two styles that they specialise in above others. Our listings provide information about the genre specialities of each teacher on their profile, so you can better assess which teacher is right for the ambitions you have for your musical journey.

We recommend compiling a shortlist of 2-3 teachers which you may like to work with and giving each of them a call to see their availability, introducing yourself and setting up an initial trial lesson.

Everyone plays for a different reason, whether it’s to sing songs around the campfire, stand in the spotlight on stage at Madison Square Garden or put music to the lyrics they write. Similarly, everyone will learn to play guitar or bass guitar in a different way and this is crucial to my approach.

I can teach a variety of styles, all backed up by the solid technical skills I have from classical training, including reading and writing music. I can also show you how to develop your songwriting skills. For learning guitar, I recommend starting with classical but will not be in any way insistent.

A highly respected musician and musical director having toured, performed on television, and recorded with artists such as Louis Tomlinson (One Direction), Ella Eyre, Sigala, Andy Brown (Lawson), Rationale, JC Stewart and so on. I have also performed on West End shows including American Idiot UK, Marco Polo and filmed tutorial videos for Cirque Du Soleil as well as been called for some of their world tours.

As I have dedicated my life to music from a very young age I am fluent in many instruments however, I would be able to aid your learning to any standard on VIOLIN, VIOLA, GUITAR, BASS GUITAR, DOUBLE BASS & PIANO. With double bass, violin & viola I received a distinction for my grade 8 exams with ABRSM, and with guitar, bass and piano – grade 8 with Rockschool.

My teaching style is largely based around finding what works best for you. Learning the rules but also the best way for you to apply these! Discovering an instrument can be scary and confusing, but I am here to show you how rewarding the journey can be.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What should I expect to pay for Music Tuition?

There are many factors that affect the price of one-to-one music lessons, such as qualifications, experience, and whether the teacher travels to you or teachers from home.

The Musicians Union recommends an hourly rate of £35 for music teaching, however, in our experience, this is normally higher in London and you can expect to pay anything from £40-60 per hour.

Most importantly, you should find the right teacher for you (or your child).

  • Are your teachers CRB checked?

We don’t verify that teachers on our database are CRB checked, but most music teachers who have worked in the UK school system, will be required to maintain a regular CRB, and will always list it on their profile.

  • What's the typical length of a lesson?

Lesson length is a common question we get asked.

The first thing we suggest taking into consideration is the age of the student, we find that younger beginners, can benefit from regular lessons of 30 – 45 Minutes each, as their attention span is less than the typical adult.

  • I'm a Teacher, how can I be listed on your site?

To be listed as a teacher on our site, please fill out the form, with all the relevant information completed. A few things we require, up to date pricing, locations, styles.

  • Do you have Teachers outside the North London area?

As we’re based in North London and we specialise in providing a local service, we are at this time only listing teachers within boroughs in North London, our Teachers list and service coverage will be expanded upon over time.
