How it works
The London Music Co Difference
Long-Term Instrument Rental
Long-term instrument rental is the most popular rental service we provide. Renting an instrument in this way is well suited for all new players, students (both children & adults), returning players and anyone who requires the temporary usage of an instrument for a prolonged period.
Short-Term Instrument Rental
Whether you need to hire an instrument for a specific event (audition, exam, concert etc.) or you fancy trying out one of our refurbished instruments before making a long-term commitment, we offer short-term rentals on the vast majority of our rental fleet, including; Clarinets, Flutes, Saxophones, Trumpets & Guitars.
Short-term instrument rental is charged on a weekly basis and the minimum term is two weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions
Rental vs. Purchase
The major benefit of renting is that you have time to try out an instrument without the upfront cost of purchasing.
Although over longer time periods, it is certainly more cost-effective to purchase, renting is a hassle-free alternative.
Renting allows you to enjoy a higher quality instrument than you may otherwise have purchased, this is especially true for beginners and children who are starting out afresh. With our rent-to-buy scheme, you can have the best of both worlds.
An additional benefit is that you get to know your chosen instrument a bit better, which means when it comes time to buy, you can make the most informed decision.

What are the costs of renting an instrument?
How are rental payments taken?
All rental payments are taken monthly via the online Direct Debit portal GoCardless.
Everything is set up online as part of our paperless rental sign-up process.
If you have any questions on the process, please contact us.
What's the right instrument for me (or my child)?
We normally recommend seeking the advice of the teacher whom you’ll be taken lessons with. Talking with the teacher usually ensures that a good choice is made. There are a number of standard things to consider when choosing a new instrument, such as; the age of the player, the experience of the player, musical interests, budget, sound & tone.
We’re happy to provide assistance with your decision on which instrument best suits your needs, please get in touch with us.
Are your rental instruments new or used?
In an effort to recycle & re-use instruments, the majority of our instruments in our rental fleet are refurbished by our technicians.
All parts are replaced, the instruments are deep-cleaned and they receive a full service to ensure they perform to the same standards, and sometimes even better than the new equivalent.
Can I purchase my rented instrument?
All of our Rental Instruments are available on a ‘rent to buy’ scheme, this allows you to deduct the first 3 months of rental payments off the retail price should you wish to purchase your rented instrument.
