Finding a Cello Teacher

When considering which Cello teacher is for you, think about which style of music you would like to pursue. Most teachers will have one or two styles that they specialise in above others. Our listings provide information about the genre specialities of each teacher on their profile, so you can better assess which teacher is right for the ambitions you have for your musical journey.

We recommend compiling a shortlist of 2-3 teachers which you may like to work with and giving each of them a call to see their availability, introducing yourself and setting up an initial trial lesson.

MPerf with Distinction Guildhall School of Music, BMUs (hons) Royal Conservatoire of Scotland

Hello! My name is Molly and I am an experienced cello teacher. As well as my own class, I teach cello with London Cello Society & Sistema England, Camden Music Service, Music Education Islington and have been Cello Tutor with the National Youth Orchestras of Scotland. I am a strong believer in tailoring lessons and aims to meet the personalities and needs of each individual student. In my experience this creates better and more productive atmospheres.

I love to teach anyone at any age and stage in their cello playing, from complete beginner through to preparing for Conservatoires. Lessons usually take place at my home in Kentish town. I am happy to travel a short distance if you prefer lessons in your own space.

I have wide range of experience with professional orchestras and ensembles and will always encourage students to take part in orchestras and chamber music. Contact me by email or phone to arrange a lesson – thank you!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What should I expect to pay for Music Tuition?

There are many factors that affect the price of one-to-one music lessons, such as qualifications, experience, and whether the teacher travels to you or teachers from home.

The Musicians’ Union recommends an hourly rate of £35 for music teaching, however, in our experience, this is normally higher in London and you can expect to pay anything from £40-60 per hour.

Most importantly, you should find the right teacher for you (or your child).

  • Are your teachers CRB checked?

We don’t verify that teachers on our database are CRB checked, but most music teachers who have worked in the UK school system, will be required to maintain a regular CRB, and will always list it on their profile.

  • What's the typical length of a lesson?

Lesson length is a common question we get asked.

The first thing we suggest taking into consideration is the age of the student, we find that younger beginners, can benefit from regular lessons of 30 – 45 Minutes each, as their attention span is less than the typical adult.

  • I'm a Teacher, how can I be listed on your site?

To be listed as a teacher on our site, please fill out the form, with all the relevant information completed. A few things we require, up to date pricing, locations, styles.

  • Do you have Teachers outside the North London area?

As we’re based in North London and we specialise in providing a local service, we are at this time only listing teachers within boroughs in North London, our Teachers list and service coverage will be expanded upon over time.
