Our Rental Services During Corona Virus

During the COVID-19 Corona Virus Pandemic, we are continuing to operate our North London Instrument Rental service. The service provides a range of high-quality woodwind & brass instruments. We offer Clarinets, Flutes, Saxophones & Trumpets on long and short term rental.

Our Instrument Rental Service is entirely paperless and you can rent an instrument from us with no unnecessary direct human contact, preserving all social distancing measures. Instruments can be delivered to your door, being left at your doorstep after we inform you of delivery via text message or phone. Each instrument is professionally cleaned and only worked on by one technician who always works wearing a protective respirator and gloves.

In addition to our extra Corona Virus precautions, all of our normal standards apply. Each instrument has as a professional service, is prepared to a high standard and comes with everything you need to start playing.

We know that this on-going pandemic and the isolation measures put in place can be challenging, we hope that many people can find joy in creative pursuits during this time. One such creative outlet is learning a new instrument, or picking up one you used to play as a child, our instrument rental service is an ideal way to find a creative outlet during this evolving and unprecedented set of events.

What precautions are we taking?

  • All of our technicians are working in isolation in individual workshops, dealing with their own specific repair & restoration jobs.
  • Every technician in our workshop wears a protective & filtered respirator & disposable latex gloves while all repair work or servicing of rental instruments is carried out.
  • Our entire rental instrument fleet has been completely sterilised with a combination of hot steam and alcohol (IPA) prior to being approved for rental.
  • All visits to the workshop have been temporarily suspended based upon government guidance. Instruments can be dropped off to the entrance and are not currently handed over in person.
  • Technicians will assess your instrument after drop-off and call you or email you to discuss the work to be undertaken and review the quote.
  • We continue to offer home deliveries, which are currently free of charge to the local area during the pandemic. For all deliveries, you will be contacted via phone when we arrive at your address and the instrument can be left at the front doorstep to ensure no direct contact and preserve social distancing measures.
  • The latest scientific research shows that COVID-19 viral particles can last for up to 72 hours on hard surfaces (although this may vary for a number of reasons). We therefore recommend that to be extra safe, instruments are not played for this length of time after delivery.
  • We take this current situation seriously and following government and WHO guidance wherever possible to ensure the safety of our customers and our staff. It’s in everyone’s best interests to control the spread of this disease and we sincerely hope that you are safe and satisfied with the measures we are taking.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can you still repair my instruments?

Yes, we can still repair your instrument. Our main workshop is still open and repairs are still taking place.

Please be aware that repairs may take a little longer than normal, due to the extra precautions we are taking over the cleanliness and disinfection of instruments that we work with.

Pickups and deliveries can still be arranged, please get in touch with us.

  • How does your delivery work with social distancing?

Once we have your address and contact number, we will bring the instrument to you at an appointed time and leave it in a safe place, this may be your porch, doorstep or lobby area of an apartment building. After leaving the instrument, we’ll give you a call or text and notify you to come and collect it. Our driver will hang around until you come to get the instrument, standing at a safe distance away to preserve social distancing.

Although we take all precautions to ensure the cleanliness of our instruments at this time, we advise waiting up to 72 hours before playing the instrument to be extra safe.

Any particular delivery instructions or arrangements can be discussed with us directly. If you have a question about this in advance, please contact us.

  • How do I return my instrument to you during the lockdown?

During the current lock down, we have an arranged location where you can drop the instrument back to us. Alternatively, we can schedule a pickup of the instrument, providing it is handed to us in a safe manner in line with social distancing policies.

Please contact us to discuss the options.

  • What if my rented instrument has a problem during quarantine?

If you think your instrument has an issue, the first thing to do is to contact us directly so that we can understand what the issue is and work out a solution.

In the event that the instrument needs work, we will arrange a courtesy replacement instrument for you (based on availability), which we can deliver when we pick up your current instrument for repair.

All of this is subject to the appropriate precautions around social distancing and isolation. If you have corona virus symptoms for example, we will not pick the instrument up from you immediately and may have to work out an alternative solution.

As this is a rapidly changing situation with all actions being important, a decision will be made on the best course of action at the time.

  • I'm out of a consumable (such as a reed), how do I get more during isolation?

We will be able to supply you spares where our stocks allow us to do so. Failing that, there are a number of online stores still operating that can provide the consumables you require, we’d be happy to help you locate what you need should we not have it.

  • How long will repairs take under the new operating conditions?

Please allow additional days for all repairs regardless of the work to be undertaken. This is to ensure we take the suitable precautions around the longevity of the virus on objects and also during the work itself.

An honest expectation will always be set from the outset of any repair being undertaken, if you have any questions please reach out to us.
