About:
Originally based upon a C Concerto by Vivaldi (RV580). Bach transcribed & arranged it for four harpisichords so that he could play it with his sons, each at their own instrument.
Bach was at the pinnacle of the German Baroque period, as well as composing numerous choral works for the Lutheran Church, he was also a keyboard virtuoso, and made many harpsichord transcriptions of the works of his contemporaries.
Of the 7 children he fathered, 2 became composers in their own right. With careers that pushed the boundaries of contemporary musical ideas.

Why we like it:
- Intricate instrumental interplay throughout.
- High energy momentum, emerging through a balanced sound.
- An authentic period performance by the ensemble, lead by Pieter-Jan Belder.
- The solo from the second movement has a modern texture and sound, similar to that which may be found in more modern works.
